Moms are truly amazing.  they go through so much to bring us into the world, and then they put up with so much to lead us to maturity in the world.  they are courageous engineers for our lives, and they so often work so hard, with little thanks or admiration.

In this message, we'll interview two moms from the bible and get to know a little more about their amazing faith!  Sarah, the wife of Abraham, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Clutter surrounds us.  It is all over our houses, our cars, and even our desks at work...  But what about in our lives?  What's the clutter in your life?  What are you still putting up with?  What’s left undone?  God keeps saying, "Conquer that; Get that out of your life; You don’t need that!"

Late last week Mom called, saying I really should come home to OH. My Grandma (86 yrs. old, and very close with me since childhood) had a stroke not long ago.  She seemed to be making progress, but then started to decline last week.  I made it home on Friday and had a couple real good days of getting to see her before she went to heaven on Monday night.  As you can imagine, it's been a full week, filled with the mix of sadness, celebration, laughter and tears.

This week, I'm going to share with you a message called OMG & Other Sacred Moments. (see Psalm 25 in your Bible)  Let me encourage you to just listen with an open heart, as I'll seek to share a number of reflections, hope-filled Scripture passages, and key life lessons from such a week of highs and lows.  On a side note, you might want to invite a friend who has recently been going through some grieving or struggles or sufferings. They might be able to relate and find some connections with the kind of season my family is experiencing right now.

What would we do without cell phones?  Those things are great - when they're working right!  There's nothing more aggravating or frustrating than when your cell phone beeps at you letting you know the battery is just about to die.  Argh!!!  We just love to be connected.

We also know the importance of life connections.  There is great power in being connected.  Jesus claims and promises such connection by giving us His big, bold claim in John 15 that points us toward stick-to-itive, keep going commitment.

Your journey through life can be confusing, challenging and stretching.  It often leaves us wondering and fearful.  The path we choose will make a big impact in our lives.  What is the patch to happiness and a fulfilling life?  In John 14, Jesus says He is the Way.

Sitting across from someone I've just recently met, my relational nerves, deep down inside, quiver just a little. Though on the outside I seek to project "I'm calm, cool and collected," inside the butterflies flutter.  A brand new person in my world.  What's he like?  Will we enjoy each other's ideas?  I hope there's not some hidden agenda.  Is he genuinely real, authentic enough to open up?  Can I laugh with him at something that's rather trivial but seriously funny? A cup of steaming hot coffee warms my hands and helps calm my nerves as the conversation begins to unfold. We share basics; we chat about our kids. Then we laugh over some goofy shared experience, and before long, we share a little deeper. It's proving to be a real good encounter, and I find myself saying inside, "I think I like this guy."  And I'm sensing we'll become even better friends in the weeks and months to come.

Most encounters work something like that.  You're nervous; You interact; Your knowledge of one another increases; Your trust grows.  And over time, your relational strength can keep growing.  It's the same as we encounter Jesus.  Starting this Sunday and across the coming weeks thru Easter, we will experience a Sunday series entitled Encountering the Real Jesus.  Flowing from St. John's biography of Christ, we will be exploring Jesus' own claims about who He is and the personal impact He can make in our lives. This week, we'll watch his encounter with the Samaritan woman beside the ancient well (John's Gospel, chapter 4).

Christ gives us power to prepare for real change, to overcome and be transformed.  It requires info-gathering, a renewed mental outlook, a commitment, and a serious choice to present our bodies "a living sacrifice."  This involves a deep mental/heart commitment.

Isn't it a lot more fun to see the outcome of change than to engage in the actual process of change?  Last week we learned that God's intent in our lives is that we will change to grow more and more like Jesus.

The starting point in life change is to be ready for change.  But what does it mean to actually be ready?  How do we move from being ready someday, to being ready today?
